What is WS2815 LED Strip Light?

WS2815 LED strip light is a type of addressable LED strip that uses the DC12v WS2815 chip, which is an improved version of the popular WS2812B chip that is DC5v input . The WS2815 chip has an added backup data line that allows for continued operation even if the signal line is broken or disconnected. This makes the WS2815 strip lights more reliable and easier to use in large installations.

WS2815 LED strips are typically controlled using a microcontroller or other programmable device, which sends digital signals to the strip to control the color and brightness of each individual LED. They are commonly used for decorative lighting, stage lighting, and other applications where programmable and customizable lighting is desired. 

How To Use WS2815 LED Strip

The left video shows how we connect the WS2815 RGB LED strip and control them. Here are the simple steps:

Step 1: Get all the connection equipment ready.
Step 2: Connect the power cable and JST connector to the controller port.
Step 3: Connect the K-1000C controller to the DC12V power source.
Step 4: Connect the WS2815 LED strip to K-1000C controller.

After finishing connection, power on the strip and adjust the lighting effects by K-1000C.

Compared with SK6812 LED strip, the WS2815 LED strip has a more stable performance due to its dual-channel data transmission. The most significant advantage of the SK6812 LED strip over the WS2815 LED strip is its broader color range.

WS2815 is a 12V, 6-pin IC, RGB+White LED color, 4 output channels, break continues, relatively expensive addressable LED strip.

  • WS2815 vs WS2813

WS2813 LED strip is an updated version of WS2812B, it is DC5V with voltage drop.
The WS2815 light strip is DC12v input instead of DC5v input, and there is almost no voltage drop, which is the main difference compared with WS2813. So can run longer distances than WS2813 light strip. Click WS2813 VS WS2815 to know more differences between them.
